This was a fun trip! The Marching Band from DHS has been known to take awards for years now. They are well known on the West Coast and have a great time performing every year in Las Vegas for the Bands of America competition. They also participated in The Red Rocks Competition in St. George on that trip. Then they headed to CA for a performance on Main Street in Disneyland. They got to spend 3 days in California. Doing the museum touristy beach day, Disneyland one day and then getting ready and on the way home day. She will always have great memories of that trip and I'm glad that she is doing this. I didn't say that last summer when I had to take her to practice each day from 7-11 a.m. Those are sleepin' in hours in the summer. But she did well and got in great shape, earned her tan and was exhausted so she didn't have the energy to argue and have attitude with me. I know we will have many opportunities over the next few years to watch them in the comps. They took 4th place in each competition-which is amazing considering there are about 60 bands that compete and only the top 10 get to stay and compete in the second round. The band director, Mr. Hendrick's, is a great man for giving up the time it takes to prepare and dedicate it to this group of over 250 kids. He is quite well known around here for the fabulous program he runs. This is a family town and it show with all the grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, {you get the picture} that come to football games-just to see the band play. Thanks Ash, for being so dedicated and willing to practice for hours on end.
YOU GO GIRL!!!
