I think Ashleigh will be done with parades after this week. She was sooooo hot and her arms and legs were so tired after marching in two parades. She should have marched in many parades this summer; but was gone for the majority of them. So this week she marched in Bountiful on the 23rd at night and then up again the next morning at 6 a.m. for the huge Days of '47 Parade in downtown SLC. I had her take 2 advil before the night one and then forgot to have her do it the next day. She was marching for 2 hours+ on the 24th of July and said hers arms felt like jello-her legs were killing her and she was dying of thirst. This time they were pretty close to the front of the line up, with over 100 entries, so it was nice to be done and get to watch the rest of the floats, bands, etc. Last night they were #86 in the line up of over 100 and that makes for a long wait in anticipation of marching and then almost last to finish up the night. She is totally enjoying Marching Band and says that at Davis High School it is COOL to be part of the band. She has made some really good friends in the band who all play the flute-she had to switch to the flute, as the oboe is not a marching instrument. Crazy girl! She'll be crazy busy this fall with her schedule and marching every night after school. We'll see how it goes. For now I'm just glad that she is enjoying it and didn't mind at all that she had to be up three days a week all summer at 6:15 a.m. for practices. You wouldn't think a teenager would love that at all!! You go, Ash-we're proud of all the work you've put into it and had fun watching you march in the parades. Now we'll look forward to going to all the football games and seeing you in the stands playing at night. Halftime shows and more. Life is good being a teenager and loving what you do. Gave her a good excuse to relax and read in the afternoons when she was tired and worn out from practicing the heat.
