We Appreciate our Teachers

Why is it that only one week of the year is spent recognizing all of the wonderful things that teachers do to get our children through life and ready to go out and face the world? I am a teacher too, but when you have a teacher who is truly dedicated to what she/he does and enjoys being there with them-I think they deserve a little more than just five days of THANKS!!! They will never get paid enough to cover the cost of the time, money, or care they put into their 25 or more kids. At the end of the day it is always, "Have a good night, see you tomorrow!" Then off to hours more of work. I don't really have to do that now because I am not in the classroom teaching all the core subjects. I am teaching almost 900 students to love the computer and do projects using programs such as: word, excel, powerpoint and publisher-but it really is no where the amount of work that a regular classroom teacher puts into their day. I can usually leave at the end of the day: 3:25 p.m. and know that I will NOT be taking any work home, no laminating to cut out, grading papers, etc. The night will be mine to do the other 50 million things that I have to do-but not anything to do with school. {most of the time}
So last week I had my friend and neighbor Christie and her sister Becky over and we made a few cute gift bags to give to our teachers during this next week. It was really fun and made me miss all the fun times I used to have crafting away into the wee hours of the morning. The smaller one I put a gift card in to Jamba Juice because that is Emily's teacher's favorite place to go and get a drink. The big bag had a huge tub of cookie dough in it because she also loves to eat that! She is a fabulous teacher whom we will really miss next year-she is moving to Ohio so that her husband can complete dental school.

The PTA also made this cute road map of the city of Kaysville and put the teachers at all the different locations on the Main street of Kaysville which is 200 North. I thought they were so cute. Here are just a few of them.
