It's the weekend!!!
I really couldn't think of anything to call this blog. I can only be grateful that it is the weekend and we have really accomplished a lot of different tasks. We got the carpet and pad redone from the 1st flood on Thursday and all the furniture put back that night. Felt good to get that all put back together. Then on Friday bright and early Lisa (Nef's sister) drove me down to the U of U Orthopedic Surgery Center to have the back surgery I have been long awaiting. It is finally done and they said all went well. I am just sore and bored. I can only walk around the house real slowly or lay on my stomach. If I sit down it pushes on the incisions and they hurt. I have two incisions which are each about 4 inches long. One goes vertical right on my spine and the other goes horizontal just to the right. It is that one that bugs when you sit down. It squishes the incision and the box that they put inside me there. Then I just want to take pain pills and they make me crazy. My nose itches, and so many other side affects no one wants to know about!!! Anyway, I'm glad it is over and I can now move on. Then on Saturday we got the sod for the rest of the yard laid and had a few helpers from the ward come and help. We were grateful that we could call and have them come and help. Our ward in Henderson, NV- the first one we were in- was so like that and we loved hangin' with everyone there. Since that time we really haven't felt like we have had a ward that has just come together and been awesome. Guess we've only been in this one a little over a year. We lived in that ward for 4 years. We just need to give this some time... We do have a lot of good people in our ward and I am so grateful for that. Nef worked hard out in the yard for hours and hours yesterday. We have been having so many water, sprinkler, etc problems. Anyway, hopefully now summer will slow down and we'll be able to enjoy the rest of it. Ash had a wonderful time at EFY. She had a tough start but by the last few days she was loving it. Thanks heavens for the boys that she knew were there too. They saved her. She didn't know her roommate and she was a quiet girl from a small town in Utah. She didn't talk much and that made it difficult. Ash got to know a few new girls and ended the week hangin' with them. Then it was time to go!! Next year she'll know to get a friend to go with her and at least know her roommate and enjoy it from day one. She got lost one day on campus and couldn't find her way back to the dorms-she kept asking people and she still got lost-she didn't have any money with her and she didn't have her phone. When I talked to her that night--I could tell she was on the brink of tears. I almost wanted to drive down there and rescue her, but I didn't. She was fine by the next day and learned her lesson. Carry your phone and money with you at all times. You never know when you'll need a drink or need to call a friend and get directions... She leaves me again this Friday for over 2 weeks to go to Oregon with a good friend from Henderson,NV (they actually moved up to Utah and live in Park City now) and go to a camp near The Dalles in Oregon. She is so excited. She also has marching band three days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and so she is a busy girl. She has been playing the oboe and now has to go back to playing the flute because the oboe is not a marching band instrument. She is crazy! I know this is the beginning of the end-for the next two years she is at home I won't see her much. Kind-of hard. She is my rock, my helper, my friend and my oldest daughter. She is such a kind and loving girl. She is smart, funny and cute. She is always silly and loves being silly with her friends. I will miss her... I feel like I am writing a letter. Life will only get better from here.
