What a week this has been too! I'm telling ya-when it rains it pours and that means literally. It really did rain hard here last week but we would have NEVER in a million years have thought that it would have come into our house. We found it on Tuesday morning when I went downstairs to ask the boys something and found a really wet spot on the carpet. We had the Payne family here for a week while their son and Ashleigh went to EFY at BYU in Provo. They had only been here for a few days when we found the water. Nef had been gone for 10 days and got home Sunday night, then was leaving again on Wednesday. Lucky for me, I found the water on Tuesday before he left to go out of town. BUT that really didn't make it any easier. Nef was working out in the yard that morning because we had a water problem outside due to the slope of the yard. It sloped down on the south side where the neighbor's side yard is and their yard also sloped down. We have grass but they don't. The water would end up in a puddle and it was getting worse so we found a guy from a reference who said he could cut all the sod out, haul in some dirt and then re-lay the sod and it would level it out so that our yards would have a higher grade and not leak water into a puddle. Well, that sod laying job didn't quite look like we thought it would and Nef ended up going out to help pull the cut slices together so there wouldn't be big gaps in between. When I informed him of the water all over the carpet in the downstairs family room-that was put on hold and we had to move furniture, pull up carpet and pad-which was soaked!!! Then I called the Quality Disaster Cleanup team-that's really what they were called-and they promptly brought out a dehumidifier and 3 LOUD fans to dry out the walls, baseboards and carpet. They were in the house going for four LONG days and nights with company here. Christian not only had three extra boys staying with us-but Jonathon Walker was in town from Las Vegas also-his best friend while we lived there-and he stayed with us a few of the days and nights also. So as you can see from these pictures we were in quite a mess downstairs. These pictures don't do the mess justice. That room really looks clean-but the furniture was all moved over to the other half of the family room where the couch is and fireplace is and the popcorn machine and x-box, etc... you get the picture. The furniture is still laying down in the kitchen-the bottom was a little wet and needed to dry. So we had a lot going on, Nef left and I entertained and finished helping the yard guy and took care of all the calls that needed to be made to the insurance, warranty with the house, etc... OKAY- guess I'll continue this later-we just found MORE water in Emily's room. The closet is soaked-arghhhhhhhh!!!!!! Life has to be good-what is going on-I don't need anymore trials!!!! Ouch-I'm sick----It's 1 a.m. and there is nothing we can do until the morning-I hope I sleep tonight or actually this morning.

These are the LOUD fans that had to run 24/7 for five days. Along with a dehumidifier. Can you picture 5 bored boys wanting to watch a movie or play an x-box game in that same room? We heard that movie or the shooting in the games upstairs and outside because they said they couldn't hear if the sound wasn't at 60!!! {We normally watch a movie with the volume set at 10} It was a long 5 days. . . Only to have them now set up again this week in the family room and in Emily's room for another long, LOUD five days.

THE CULPRIT!!! The pipe that froze in the winter and caused the 2nd flood. The boys(Christian and the Payne boys) were bored on Friday so we told them to ride their bikes to the store and get water balloons and have a water fight outside. Mainly to get them to remain outside and keep them from coming in and out and continually saying, "I'm bored."

This is the hose bib that the boys ran water from to fill up their water balloons. They later told us that the water wasn't coming out very good and it took a long time to fill up their balloons-hum!!! Oh well, it would have happened sooner or later. The pipe was cracked no matter what-it was just a matter of time and better that it happened along with the other flood and get it all over at the same time. Two is always better than one-right?!?!?

What used to be a nicely organized closet is now empty and roaring with fans to dry the water damage. Those walls on the left will all have to be torn out and replaced. Water has damaged the whole wall and insulation-which can not be dried. Her wall in the room right by the closet will also have to be torn out due to wet insulation. I just told Em to look at as getting a new room each year! It seems it has been that way in the past. . . .

This is Emily's closet nicely placed (jk) in Ashleigh's room!!!

OH! I'm so sorry! That is so awful! I have some phone interviews today so I have to stay put, but I'll call you so I can come see you...and perhaps help you clean up your house! You are so sweet to post those pictures...MY HAIR LOOKS SO BAD, I had it trimmed the day before and she put this greasy product in it...oh well, whatever...thank you for taking the pictures.:) I already miss those cute little ones!
Oh Kathy! I'm so sorry! Just remember though, "This too, shall pass!" My parents basement floods about twice a year, you may just want to invest in your own fans!!!
How awful, at least Nef was around for some of it. Hopefully you can get back to normal soon, and enjoy summer.
